Plate Count Agar (500g/Bottle)

• Use: Determination of total bacterial count 
• Characteristics: Non-selective medium for the plate count of microorganisms in water, milk and other dairy products
• Principle: 

• Tryptone provides carbon and nitrogen.
• Yeast extract powder provides B vitamins.
• Glucose to provide energy.
• Agar is the solidifying agent.

• Instructions: 

Suspend 23.5 g in 1 liter of distilled water. Bring to the boil to dissolve completely. Sterilize by autoclaving at 121 °C for 15 minutes. Pour into sterile petri plates. Dry the surface of the gel before inoculation.

• Storage: Keep container tightly closed, store in a cool, dry place, away from bright light. Storage period of 3 years.
