96-well PCR Plates

The world of science has come a long way since Kary Mullis invented the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) in 1983. Since then, researchers along the private and public sectors have worked relentlessly to optimize the efficiency of PCR products. Considerable efforts and improvements have been made in regards to the thermocyclers, probes, reaction mixes, templates, and primers used in PCR testing. When it comes to PCR research and testing, choosing the right well plate is a must, in order to avoid missed data points, sample reruns, and failures to meet deadlines.

96-well PCR Plates are used to detect bacterial infections. PCR plates are commonly used for sequencing, since it is much easier and faster to amplify DNA with this device. The advantage of using PCR plates is that the primers don’t need to have complementary sequences in order to target the DNA that is being amplified.

TAAG Life Sciences offers 0.1ml and 0.2ml 96-well PCR Plates (non skirted), and each of them comes with 25 plates per box. They are made of virgin polypropylene in order to guarantee the best thermoplastic quality and testing safety. These items possess thin and uniform well walls that ensure an efficient thermal transfer within the cycler blocks. Both items come pre-sterilized, as well as RNase, DNase, and DNA free. The 96-well PCR Plates come slightly raised, to provide sealing with mats, film, foil, heat seals and flat/domed cap strips. Finally, they are ordered in a 1-12 horizontal and A-H vertical alpha-numeric labeling method in order to add contrast and make it easier to keep track of the results that are being annotated.

Our 96-well PCR Plates are manufactured from a blend of high-quality polypropylene that ensures the best thermal conditions needed to provide reliable testing results. This kind of plastic material is designed to have a high heat tolerance, and will not suffer any cracks or damages during the sudden temperature changes within PCR cycles. Also, these PCR plates are transparent in order to facilitate testing observation, and they are compatible with the most commonly used PCR-related products and instruments. They are specifically designed to work with most thermocyclers available on the market (check compatibility). In addition, they are free of contaminating nucleic acids, nucleases, and endotoxins in order to ensure the purest PCR results, held by the highest market standards.

The 96-well PCR Plates have a number of possible uses across the molecular testing spectrum. First, they are used for standard PCR tests with large sample volumes, in order to detect and amplify DNA fragments for sequencing. Second, they are employed for thorough gene expression studies that require an accurate and real-time detection of PCR products with qPCR. Third, they are useful for population wide mutation analysis assays, such as what we’ve seen with the SARS-2 / Covid-19 pandemic. They are also used to analyze food samples to detect spoilage or pathogenic contamination (Salmonella, E. Coli, Listeria etc.). Finally, they can also be utilized to quantify DNA amplicons in paternity testing and other forensic applications.
